On Running Apparel, A Complete Top to Bottom Review
I’ve been running in various pairs of On Running shoes. Their products are great, so when I saw their running clothing, I was excited to give it a try – and glad that I did! I tried out their Performance-T paired with the Performance Bra, their Running Shorts, and a lightweight running hat.
On the Upper Half
The Performance-T is incredibly light, as if you are not wearing a shirt at all. So, for those hot Tahoe days when you’re thinking about running shirt free, this is a great option. You’ll get some coverage and sun protection but enjoy the weightlessness and wicking properties of this shirt.
I found the Performance Bra to be super cute, I have it in the “Sea” color with contrasting black straps. I did find it a bit hard to get into. It stretches, but not a lot. Once I wrangled into it, the bra was quite comfortable and supportive. It does have slightly molded cups to provide a little shape and can definitely take care of your girls during high impact activities.
That brings us to the hat! I am a hat wearer for two reasons – first of course, to keep the sun off my face and secondly to keep my hair out of my eyes. This hat fits the bill for both, and is so incredibly lightweight that I forget I am wearing it.
On the Bottom Half
The Running Short is a 3-4” in-seam with a fitted liner that is about the same length. This liner is not just an inner brief, so it provides some additional modesty or protection against that inner thigh chafe that some of us experience. I also liked the pocket on these shorts. There is a key loop to ensure no key mishaps on the trail, room for a gel or sport snack, and has a fabric fold-over to eliminate the zipper which I find annoying when I’m doing my post run stretch and receive the zipper stab on the back. This is a great short for the gym as well with the longer liner providing a bit more coverage when stretching, bending over to grab weights, or doing your dead lifts.
The fabrics that are used by On in their apparel are super soft and wicking. I love the sea color that is offered in both the shirt and the bra. After a few washings, the fabrics are holding up nicely and still look like the day I purchased them. I will definitely look for more On apparel and I look forward to seeing their winter collection of tights, long sleeves, and jackets.
